  TOD ROBBINS
b.1888 d.1949
An author of the macabre and grotesque rather than the supernatural, Robbins wrote The Terrible Three (1917) about three circus freaks, which was recycled into the short story "Spurs" , becoming the basis of the notorious film Freaks (1932).

Originally entitled "The Terrible Three", it was first published in All-Story Weekly, 14th July 1917. It was made into a silent film in 1925 by MGM, and again as a talkie in 1930.
