Seabury Grandin Quinn was the most popular contributor to Weird Tales in its heydey, and of all his stories the best-loved were those about Jules de Grandin, the occult investigator.

Volume I has an introduction by Robert Weinberg and also reprints his Afterwords to the five Popular Library paperback editions. SQ's introduction to "The Phantom-Fighter" is also reprinted. The stories are printed in order of appearance (all published in Weird Tales magazine). This volume begins with The Horror on the Links (WT, October 1925) and ends with The Dust of Egypt (WT, April 1930), comprising the first 35 stories.
Volume II has an introduction by Seabury Quinn, Jr ("My Father and I") and also reprints the SQ introduction to "The Phantom-Fighter". This volume begins with The Brain-Thief (WT, May 1930) and ends with The Jest of Warburg Tantavul (WT, September 1934), comprising 24 stories, including the novel-length The Devil's Bride.
Volume III has an introduction by Jim Rockhill ("The Occult Delights of Jules de Grandin and again reprints the SQ Phantom-Fighter introduction. This volume begins with Hands of the Dead (WT, January 1935) and ends with The Ring of Bastet (WT, September 1951), comprising the last 34 stories.
