A versatile
and controversial modernist writer whose achievements have often
been overshadowed by the various court cases they have provoked,
especially the trial of Lady Chatterly's Lover. Lawrence wrote a few
supernatural short stories, many of which were first published in
Cynthia Asquith's anthologies. Perhaps his
best-known supernatural tale is "The Rocking Horse Winner"
