  GUY BOOTHBY
b.1867 d.1905
Although Pharos, The Egyptian and The Lady of the Island are overtly supernatural works, Boothby's work following the adventures of The Dr. Nikola novels are only marginally supernatural -- the villain is in search of immortality throughout the five-book series and possesses occult knowledge and skills. The non-series title, Curse of the Snake, is a novel about the evil influence that a snake has on those who own it.
