It goes very, very wrong

The Bollweevils album exists today only as a rough "monitor mix" recorded by the engineer at the studio, the only thing salvaged from a complete disaster. The band had moved in for a two week session and laid down the basic tracks for a ten-song album. However, "Bunhead", a partner in the band's management company, failed to bring along the money that had been entrusted to him by the recording company to pay the bill. Quite understandably the studio wanted their fees payed and confiscated all of the band's possessions, including the master tapes, in lieu of payment. Unfortunately, "Bunhead" had disappeared, leaving not only the band in the lurch, but also the management company and his wife! The studio presumably sold the band's equipment to recover some of the expenses, and it is not known what they did with the master tapes. All that the band walked away with was that rough monitor mix.

With dreams dashed, no equipment, no management company and a record label who decided that they were not liable for any of the losses, the band split up in exasperation.
